How to choose the suitable emergency shower and eyewash stations?

Emergency safety eye wash stations have been widely used in most areas such as factories, laboratories and hospitals in developed industrial countries abroad (USA, UK, etc.) as early as the 1980s. Its purpose is to reduce the harm to the body caused by toxic and harmful substances at work. It is widely used in petroleum, chemical industry, semiconductor industry, pharmaceutical manufacturing and places where hazardous materials are exposed.

First, Material selection is decided by the toxic and hazardous chemicals at the work site.

Normally the material for eyewash station is plastic, carbon steel and stainless steel. Stainless steel is good enough for most situations. But when there are chloride, fluoride, sulfuric acid or oxalic acid with a concentration of more than 50% at the use site, you can only choose the eyewashes with plastic ABS powder coating or high-performance stainless-steel with special treatment. Otherwise, the eyewash station produced by stainless steel 304 will be damaged to a large extent in less than six months. 

Second: the type of eyewash station is decided by the temperature locally.

We need to take hot climate and cold climate into considerations.

If the temperature is below 0 ℃, Water will freeze into blocks then eyewash couldn’t work. Normally we would select auto-drain type, anti-freeze type, electric heated type, cable heating type and immersion heater type. It depends on how cold the temperature could be.

If the temperature is too hot such as Middle East area, desert area and so on, we need to keep the water temperature in 16-38 0 ℃. Normally we would use anti-scald valve, electrical cooler, zero power cooler.

Third : Whether a water tank is needed is decided by the availability of water in the workplace
For work sites where don’t have a fixed water source, or need to frequently change the workplace, a portable eyewash can be used. This type of eyewash can be moved to the position required at the work site, but this type of small portable eyewash only has an eyewash function and no shower function. And the water flow of the eyewash is much smaller than that from a fixed eyewash station. Otherwise you could select the emergency shower and eyewash stations with 1500L water tank.

For work sites with a fixed water source, fixed eyewash devices are used to directly connect the tap water on site, and the water flow is large. There are many types of fixed eyewash, which can be selected according to the needs of the factory.

Combination eyewash: with spray system and eyewash system installed directly on the floor. Vertical eyewash: no spray system, eyewash system installed directly on the floor

Wall-mounted eyewash: no spray system, eyewash system installed directly on the wall
Desktop eyewash: no spray system, eyewash system installed directly on the work table
